Scholarships

Each year the following Scholarships are offered to Domestic Students (or students with a New Zealand Passport or Birth Certificate or Permanent Residency status)

Duncan and Ebbett Scholarship for a Student entering Year 7 or Year 8 in 2019

Students are invited to apply for this Scholarship which provides support to students whose financial situation may not allow them to attend Southwell School. The Scholarship is tenable for the duration of the successful student’s education at Southwell School in Years 7 and 8.

Applications close on Friday 14 September, 2018.

Academic Scholarships for Students entering Year 7 in 2019

The Southwell School Trust Board offers up to four Scholarships per annum to Year 6 students entering Year 7 the following year.  Each scholarship is valued at $2,000 per annum. Students who apply for the 2019 scholarships will come to Southwell on the morning of Friday 26 October (date to be confirmed) and sit examinations in Mathematics and English.  Results will be sent to the parents of all applicants in December.

Rototuna New World Scholarship

Applications are invited each year for this scholarship which provides support to a student whose financial situation may not allow them to attend Southwell School. Candidates must currently be in Year 6 and attending either Hukanui Primary School, Rototuna Primary School or Te Totara Primary School.  The Scholarship is tenable for the duration of the successful student’s education at Southwell School in Years 7 and/or Year 8.

The value of this scholarship is up to $5,000 per annum, off Tuition fees.

Applications for 2019 closed on Friday 31 August 2018.

Other Scholarship Funding

The Southwell School Foundation Trust and the Southwell School Old Boys’ and Girls’ Association provide Scholarship assistance to the School each year.  This assistance is available to families who may need some support with tuition fees due to special circumstances. Families may apply for this assistance by writing to the Headmaster and giving a brief outline of their circumstances and indicating the level of support they require.  This funding is available for both current and new students at any year level and applications are considered by the Headmaster on a case-by-case basis.

To apply please send the following:

  1. A completed Southwell School Application Form.
  2. A copy of the child’s NZ Birth Certificate or Passport.
  3. A copy of any medical or court reports that relate to the child.
  4. A letter detailing the reasons for your application, including an indication of how much funding is being applied for.

Please note:  Steps 1, 2 & 3 as outlined above do not apply to students already enrolled or attending Southwell.
