Great lives start at Southwell

Parent Association (SSA)

Southwell School Association.

As a parent at Southwell, you are automatically a member of the Southwell School Association (SSA) and we are delighted to welcome you.

The SSA was created to further the Southwell community through active parent involvement and support.   With that in mind, our activities are many, from organising social events to supporting the school in various productions and activities through to fund-raising for specific resources the school may not otherwise access.  The SSA meets once or twice each term on a Tuesday evening to which all parents are welcome.

We organise many social events throughout the year for parents and children to get to know each other and have fun.  These include our annual Golf Day, Trivia Night, the SSA School Disco, and in alternate years, a Gala evening and a School Fete.  To learn more, check out the Events and Activities section of the website.

The SSA has also raised significant funds for the school over the years, with notable projects including an indoor climbing wall, a new middle school playground, a 3D printer and an eBook system for the Library in recent years.  At the end of 2016, the SSA was pleased to confirm the donation of funds to the school to redevelop the entire playground area in the Junior School.

Each class at school is represented by one or two Class Liaisons.  If you would like to become a Class Liaison, please refer to the General Information section on the left to find out further details on the role and how to volunteer.

If you have any queries, please don’t hesitate to contact any of the Executive Committee below.

A Vital Role

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

We hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable summer. On behalf of the Southwell School Association (SSA), we would like to warmly welcome new parents and families to Southwell this year.

As parents of a current student, you are automatically a member of the SSA. The main aim of the SSA is to further the Southwell community through active parent involvement. Our activities include organising social events for parents and children, supporting the School in productions and activities and fundraising for specific resources the School may not otherwise access.

The SSA meets once or twice each term on Tuesday evenings in the School Dining Room to which all parents are welcome. Additionally, each class is represented by one or two Class Liaisons. This role is vital to the successful communication between parents and the SSA. We are currently looking for volunteers in each class to take on this role. If you would like more information around what this role entails, please contact the SSA President Yolanda Rushbrooke – yolandadup@xtra.co.nz

If you need the help of the SSA pastoral care program, please email, [email protected] (confidentiality assured) and we will contact you.

Thank you to the Southwell School Association for these recently donated items
