A WORLD CLASS LEARNING SPACE OPENS
The highlight of Term 1 was the Southwell community celebrating the opening of our fabulous new teaching and learning facility. The new building replaces the old Lowers Block and was opened by Southwell Old Boy, Te Arikinui Kingi Tuheitia (1964 – 1968).
The new block was designed by de Lisle Jenkins Architects. Mark de Lisle is a Southwell Old Boy (1963 – 1968), as well as a long-serving member of the OBGA committee and a Fellow.
The new building has been named The Murray and Ann Day Building to honour the contribution the Days have made to Southwell during their long association with the school. Murray was an Old Boy (1939 - 1944); he is a former Chairman of the Board; he was elected Warden of the Fellows (1991- 2011); and he was made an Associate of Honour for service to the School and wider community in 2015. Ann is also a Southwell School Fellow in recognition of her outstanding service to the School.
