KIDS’ LIT QUIZ
Fun, frivolity and reading risks have been the theme for the Lit Quiz Training Squad this year. Mrs Huggins was set the challenge of selecting eight amazing readers to represent the school at the Waikato heat of the Kids’ Lit Quiz.
The competition was held at Southwell, during Book Week. Southwell Team 1 comprised of Ellena Wood, Caitlin Lou, Josef Gillgren and Charlotte de Lautour and Southwell Team 2 was made up of Alex Liu, William Mollard, Yvette Scatchard and Hannah Jacobsen.
Both teams performed very well on the night. Southwell Team 1 had a share of the lead for much of the night, eventually nishing fourth in a very tight battle at the top.
Our training sessions have been fun- lled and laughter is often heard ringing out through the Library or the Homestead.
All the readers who have been involved
in the Lit Quiz Training Squad this year, have discovered new books and made new friends, both real and ctional!
Four Year 8 girls had the privilege of helping host the teams who visited Southwell as part of the Kids’ Lit Quiz World Final week in July. All were amazing ambassadors
for Southwell. Thank you to Jessica Licht, Zsabella Goldsack, Caitlin Lou and Charlotte de Lautour.
