NETBALL
Southwell elded ve Year 7/8 teams, four Year 5/6 teams and one Year 4 team for the 2018 netball season. All teams presented themselves with individual and collective pride at the courts on a weekly basis. The girls all performed admirably with a keen sense of fair play, enjoying the game of netball no matter what the result. This is crucial in their development as a player, and the hope as coaches is that it will mean they will continue enjoying and playing the game.
We had a mixed bag of results throughout the season, but special mention must go to Southwell 7B who won their section of the competition. Well done to Cindy Lloyd-Voss and her team.
The training sessions across all teams were always fun and a range of different skills were developed particularly on wet days. I think as coaches and players we learned
a few new dance moves which certainly assisted our overall agility.
Highlights for the season would have to include the xtures with other schools. Even though the results at times were not what we had hoped, the variety of different teams we were able to play lent itself to develop skills in overall court play and positional rotations. These extra games are always bene cial for our Saturday competition.
Congratulations to the following students who were selected for representative honours:
Sophia Scaramuzza
Year 8B Hamilton City Netball Team
Natalya Walker
Year 7A Hamilton City Netball Team
From the coaching staff to the parents
and supporters we saw at the courts each week, thank you for your support. It means
a great deal to the girls to have their special supporters there. Thanks must also go Raewyn Bird who assisted us to nd umpires each week.
