SOUTHWELL SCHOOL
FROM THE HEADMASTER’S DESK
Southwell’s traditions and history play a critical part in our Southwell culture. Whilst our teaching
and learning method is
modern and leading our students to lead great lives in the 21st
century, each day, week, term and year have traditional elements that have helped form the structure and foundation for our families and School for over a century. Our traditions allow us to regularly celebrate our diversity and unite together as one.
Our traditions remind us that we are part of a history that de nes us and plays a part in shaping who we are now and what we will become.
Our traditions enable us to celebrate the things that really matter in life. From our Southwell values, celebrated each morning as we gather as a community in All Hallows Chapel, to recognising our role models across many stages.
Our traditions allow us to thank the many people who have contributed to the Southwell story and who have created many lasting memories. To be able to pause and re ect often, as we stride into our future, signi es the foundation which Southwell has laid.
Year after year our traditions and celebrations allow familiarity and a sense of comfort and belonging to occur for individuals, groups and our whole community. We must celebrate these moments and never take them for granted, as they reinforce the beliefs and values that we cherish.
