YEAR 8 SYNDICATE
On the Year 8 Camp in February this year’s group of Year 8 students really showed their true colours.
It was a tough week as the weather really tested the mettle of students and teachers alike. Mr Cameron’s chirpy little motivational phrase of Deal With It was put to the test
as the group experienced wet, windy and altogether wild conditions that we all dealt with and learnt a great deal from.
The students handled this challenging experience superbly and showed the true meaning of resilience. This theme was exhibited on numerous occasions in 2018 as collectively the Year 8 team represented Southwell in sports, cultural and service pursuits in a way that can be a source of pride for the whole school community.
The Year 8 teaching team had a whole lot of fun with this spirited bunch as the year progressed. We farewelled the 2018 Year
8 group happy in the knowledge that the collective learning experiences provided by Southwell are a fantastic way for students to prepare for what lies ahead.
I thank the teaching team of 2018 and extend best wishes to Mrs Gillgren who goes on maternity leave.
Also we are sad to see Mr Botha go to Year 7 and I thank him for his superb work in Year 8 over the last few years.
Go well, Year 8 group of 2018.
