Our motto for this year was Ordinary People Doing Extraordinary Things. It is really important in Durham that every child feels that they contribute to Durham’s success in some way. Every child participating is the key to Durham’s success.
Once again Durham had two very able leaders in Iona and William, who kept on encouraging the House. This was particularly true in preparation for the Founder's Day celebrations which was entirely lead by the pupils.
This will be my last report as Durham House Leader as I will be retiring at the end of Term 2 in 2021. I have really enjoyed my last 23 years in Durham. One of the highlights for me was winning the inaugural House Singing competition. Durham House has always strived to give of their very best. I have enjoyed leading the House for the last 21 years.
I have been fortunate to work with wonderfully supportive colleagues and a house that bought into my philosophy of the Power of One.

I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of
such a wonderful and supportive house. Everyone in Durham always gives their best and has a smile while doing it. The teachers are always happy to help. Thank you to Mr Webb for leading Durham brilliantly, with a calm and patient atmosphere,. Our House Meetings always feel welcoming. I enjoy our enthusiam and spirit when it comes to house events and I love the way everyone encourages one another to give it a go. A highlight for me was Founder's Day - leading the line- dancing and watching everyone join in was fun and rewarding.
I have loved leading our special house this year and I feel very privileged to do so. Thank you Durham for giving me this amazing opportunity.
Iona Martynoga Head of House
Despite every inconvenience that happened during 2020, Durham has had a brilliant year. We’ve come through Lockdown and the worst of Covid-19. I have thoroughly enjoyed being Head of House and am going to miss all the students and teachers I've grown close to through simple things like House Meetings every Tuesday morning, line-dancing on Founder's Day and House Sport. From Year 0-8 I have been in Durham and it’ll be strange and sad to leave it all behind. I wish Durham all the best for the future. It’s been a pleasure.
