GIRLS’ CHOIR OF ALL HALLOWS CHAPEL
I am so honoured to be writing this report because I always dreamed of being the Head Chorister, but I am also super sad, because it means that it is the end of the year and I am not ready for it to be over.
2020 has been a really strange year for everyone, with Covid-19 cancelling a lot of our Chapel services and most of our competitions and performances. This was really sad and frustrating, because singing and performing is what we all love to do most. But one amazing thing that came from the lockdown was the online collaboration of You Raise Me Up. School musicians and members of the choirs each recorded their individual parts and they were cleverly edited together by Mr and Mrs Trenwith. This was a really cool project to be part of and we all felt connected and creative.
One of the highlights of our year was the combined Choir Trip which you can read about in the trip report.
I would like to thank all of the members of the Girls’ Choir this year. You have all become like another family to me - and coming from a family with only two brothers I have gained all of the sisters I ever wanted! Thank you to all of our parents for bringing your girls to rehearsals and services and to those who came on the Choir Trip and those who always helped to Robe and Ribbon us for our performances.
Most of all, I would especially love to thank our Choir teacher, conductor and all round amazing super human, Mrs McIntyre. You are tirelessly patient, you are so talented and funny, and I am sure I speak for all the girls when I say we LOVE you. It has been such a privilege to be your Head Chorister this year.
Although we had very few performances this year, we ended on a high note with the Christmas Chapel Services!
Yours in Song,
Charlotte Tam

 COMBINED CHOIR TRIP
  VOICE FOR LIFE
At Southwell, there are many opportunities, and one of those extracurricular activities is the Voice For Life training (ribbon training.) This is where anyone who is already in the Chapel Choir can go to Mrs McIntyre to be trained. As you slowly improve your singing level your ribbon level will increase. The levels are represented in colours - White (beginner), Light Blue, Dark Blue, Red (master.) Each level gets more and more difcult as you move on.
If you want to improve your singing and music skills I would denitely recommend doing Voice For Life. I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of this. Southwell is very lucky to have this system, thanks to Mrs McIntyre and Chaplain. I will denitely take what I have learned with me as I move to high school.

I think we both agree that this Choir Trip was unbelievable, mainly because even having a trip this year was unexpected! It was a blast - three days with one activity after the next and one chapel service after the next. Unfortunately, one of our choristers (James Su) did manage to chip his teeth, but luckily for us, there was no major damage and he just needed to get a cap over his teeth.
On the bright side, the sensational Benjamin Lou kept repeating the phrase sensational and champion over and over again in an Australian accent - to the point that by the end of our trip our bus driver thanked us and said we were a group of sensational kids!
The food was great, the accommodation was perfect and we denitely enjoyed our three days away from school giving service back to the community with our two church services and two concerts.
The students' favorite activity was the zip-lining, closely followed by swimming, shopping and caving. Thanks to all the teachers and parents who made this trip possible.
