ENVIRO
2022 has been a year of opportunities for the Enviro-team at Southwell.
With everyone back at school and learning returning to some normality after Covid, we turned our attention to Staying Healthy.
What better way than to start growing our own vegetables? So our journey began with the seeking of funding from the OBGA, who kindly provided us with enough money to purchase two large veggie pods. We planted, veggies grew and we went on to use them in the inaugural Southwell Masterchef Competition. Six teams of keen senior students worked together, cooked up a storm and had a great deal of fun.
With the help of the Year 5 and 6 monitors, who collect food scraps to feed our worms, our veggies flourished, having been fertilised with worm juice.
So it is fair to say that our effective Enviro- team have worked hard to create sustainable practices.
With our additional efforts with paper recycling, tree planting and energy

saving initiatives, we have made difference to the planet and are looking forward to
continuing to do our bit.
