SOUTHWELL SCHOOL ASSOCIATION GOLF DAY
The Southwell School Association Golf Day was once again held at St Andrews Golf Course. A spectacularly sunny day dawned with a lovely cool breeze, rolling green fairways, and speedy greens, perfect for the golfing prowess shortly to be on display.
The 18 teams entered enjoyed a champagne breakfast, superbly catered by Matte Black Catering, which left no excuses for a lack of carb loading prior to the event!
With all tees fully loaded for a shotgun start, the course included The Longest Drive, sponsored by Power Farming
and won by David Chang and Annie Seifert. Closest to the Pin on the 3rd was sponsored by Pro-Drive and if there is ever a darts competition to be held, ensure you have Lyndon Cooper and Jenny Jackson on your team.
Duncan & Ebbett ensured that all players were well fed with Toni Duncan as head chef and Jason Speedy as sous chef really putting the gourmet into the fabulous BBQ. Lots of comments were heard afterwards about how further exercise would be needed to work it all off!
At the end of the day, many teams handed in some very impressive score cards. Analysis showed very close scoring with decimal points coming into reckoning. Runner up was the Party of Fore team with The McMaster’s team emerging as the eventual winners.

Many thanks must be given to our major sponsors and all our flag and prize sponsors. This was a successful SSA event, not only because of the funds it raised for the School, but also because of the strengthening of ties and goodwill it generated between the School, parents and the wider community.
We are looking forward to next year’s event! We hope that we see many members of the Southwell community at events later in the year, particularly the ever-popular trivia night.
