 RECENT WEDDINGS
Emily Peacocke (2000 – 2004) Foundation Girl, Head Girl
Emily and Oscar Salmond met at Otago University where Emily studied for a B Com, LLB. On completion of their studies they moved north to the Waikato. Emily has been with Tompkins Wake for five years where she is
a senior solicitor, specialising in property transactions, while Oscar is farming in Whatawhata. Emily and Oscar married in March on Waiheke Island five days before lock-down!
Nicole Calderwood (2000 – 2005) Foundation Girl
Nicole studied a Bachelor of Management Studies at the University of Waikato graduating with First Class Honours. She works at King St Advertising as a digital executive, managing digital campaigns for a range
of clients. Nicole married Riley Cochrane, a software developer, at Southwell in February and they currently live on the Southwell boundary not far from where the celebrations took place!
Lydia Velzian (2000 – 2005) Foundation Girl
Lydia spent some time at university in America and then completed her degree and Masters at Auckland University, MBiomed Sci in Neuroscience and Genetics. She is currently a Research Assistant at the Centre for Brain Research in Auckland, focusing on Dementia. Zac is an Environmental Consultant in Auckland, specialising in water and sediment control for earthworks. They have travelled around the world together, love hiking and the outdoors and both still play lots of hockey!
Olivia Johnstone (2003 – 2005)
Daughter of old boy Roger Johnstone (1968 – 1971) Currently, based on the Gold Coast in Australia, Olivia returned home to celebrate her marriage to Vic Karkazis,
whom she met while skiing in Japan. Their wedding ceremony took place at Southwell in the Chapel with the reception following on the family farm, Kapamahunga Station. On leaving Waikato Dio Olivia completed a Communications Degree and currently works for an event hire company while Vic is a Project Manager in the building industry.

Jenny Mclean (2001 – 2003)
Jenny and Jack met at Auckland University where they studied Engineering Science. Jenny then completed a Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at Pennsylvania State University before moving to Boston to join Jack, who was completing his PhD at MIT. She now works at a fintech startup. Jenny and Jack got married in February this year in Wellington and have since returned to Boston.
Harriett Allen (2008 – 2009)
Harriet and Sam Cane married in December in Queenstown. They currently live in Hamilton where Harriet is an early childhood teacher, working at Li’l Pumpkins Early Learning in Tamahere, with Sam playing rugby for the Chiefs and All Blacks.
Southwell Wedding History (1937)
Noreen Sergel married Uloth Johnstone in 1937, in what was the first Sergel wedding in All Hallows Chapel. It was a big event for the boys who were invited to the ceremony and wedding breakfast.
