WOLD BOYS’ & GIRLS’ ASSOCIATION REPORT
elcome to 2021, a year that promises to be a House Singing was held on Friday, 18 June. It was my cautious step back into a sense of normality! We pleasure to present the Old Boys’ and Girls’ House Singing have enjoyed reconnecting with our community Trophy to the winning house, Salisbury. Well done to all
through a busy event schedule, after a reasonably disjointed year due to Covid-19. The Association is in great shape and we are enjoying the company of the many old boys and girls who frequently drop into the School for a tour or morning tea.
We welcome two new members to the Old Boys’ and Girls’ Association committee; Amy Rudduck and Kate Williamson. Amy is currently a Year 5 teacher here at Southwell and is a familiar face to many of you. Kate is a Foundation girl who is currently working in Hamilton after studying at Waikato University. We are grateful to have you both on board.
The OBGA Golf Classic at Ngaruawahia Golf Club was a fun and enjoyable start to the OBGA calendar and we certainly enjoyed hosting a very successful day. The tournament was an early sellout and we look forward to making this an annual event.
The Pink Ribbon Breakfast in May was an instant hit with the Southwell ladies and OBGA is pleased to have backed this im- portant cause. We thank all involved for the tremendous support of this event, the vast sense of community was heartwarming.
those who sang with spirit and gusto!
On Friday, 27 August we will welcome back the current Year 13 group of Southwell leavers to offer advice and insights to our current Year 8 students. This is always a fun afternoon and we are interested to reconnect and hear the experiences of secondary school life.
Approaching fast is the 2021 Opera, Oliver! This marks 100 years of Operas at Southwell and OBGA warmly invites you at attend a special performance for old boys and girls on Saturday, 18 September. Please see the advert later in this issue of the Chronicle. We encourage you to bring your family and friends to see what is promising to be another fabulous show.
I would encourage you all to support the Foundation Chapel Stained Glass Window Appeal. The chapel really is the heart of the School and I know it holds a special place in the heart of many.
