                    CELEBRATING
 AGLORIA ARCHER
fter an incredible 37 years, we are farewelling from full time employment a true legend of Southwell, Mrs Gloria Archer, our Enrolment Registrar.
Commencing as Headmasters Secretary under Moss Marshall in 1984, as one of only three admin staff,
Gloria carried out a multitude of key administrative responsibilities, in fact, all that needed to be done
admin wise was done by Gloria. The increase in roll saw the creation of a specialised Enrolment Registrar and International Student Manager, with Gloria being the
first point of contact with prospective parents, managing waiting lists, organising interviews, balancing roll numbers and guiding our international students.
Over this time Gloria has worked under and managed
five Headmasters; Moss Marshall, Geoff Burgess, Tony Sissons, Royce Helm and Jason Speedy and enrolled over 6,000 students. Gloria has also assisted in maintaining the School’s archives and generously shared her knowledge of Southwells history with the School community.
This year Gloria was the recipient of the Independent Schools of New Zealand honours award for her out- standing service to Southwell.
See an exert below from her nomination form;
‘Gloria demonstrates tact and wisdom when confronted with challenges and her selfless contribution to both the School and the wider educational environment is widely and warmly appreciated. It is rare to find such loyal,
long-serving and outstanding commitment to education governance.’
Gloria you have made a difference to Southwell, your friendship, loyalty, work ethic and sense of humor will be missed – go well.
Per aspera per Astrum.
