rugby! The girls play a mean game of cards and are quite competitive trying to take top spot while singing along to their favourite country tunes! Sunday evening we head back to school.
Our lifestyle is so rewarding. The best thing about what we do is living on and off the land, we are responsible for our own destiny and leaving our patch in a better place than when we bought it.
Environmental fencing and planting of natives is very satisfying especially the increased bird life and clean streams. We breed Angus cattle and sell bulls throughout NZ. So seeing how our genetics are improving our clients farming returns is very exciting and rewarding.
Best Southwell memory... there are so many. Opera, prize giving, swimming sports, tug of wars, chapel services, camps, fixtures, book character day, kapa Haka.
The whole of Southwell daily life. Everyone is part of the Southwell story and strives to be the best they can be.
The teachers and staff, especially in the Boarding house keep our children safe and loved and provide a home away from home for us.

THAYWARD FAMILY
win Oaks is a First Generation Angus Stud with a modern attitude to breeding Angus Cattle. The stud is run on Waipapa Station which is situated
at Te Akau. Waipapa Station is an 860ha (2200acres) breeding farm.
Alongside the breeding aspect, the family trades Angus steers and trade between 5000 and 8000 lambs per year.
It is also home to the Hayward Family; Roger and Susan, plus Thomas (Old Boy 2016) , Olivia (Old Girl 2016-2018) and Jessica our current Head Boarder. The children joined Southwell in 2016 and the weekly trips into Southwell have continued to this day.
A typical weekend looks like this...
I pick the girls up on Friday evening it takes about an hour to get home. The family dogs Winnie (foxy) and Rosie(springer spaniel) always go crazy when the girls get home and always give them a warm welcome.
