Y0-3 Values Badge
The Southwell School Values represent a significant component of classroom culture. Consistent Values language: Excellence, Integrity, Creativity , Respect, Resilience, and Caring is used with all learners. A shared language and definitions are supported by class display, syndicate culture and formal moments of recognition. Students will be supported to reflect in class, both individually and with their teacher on a daily basis. Moments of significant learning are recognized through an in-class learning conversation with the classroom teacher and recorded as the child adds a Values sticker to their Values Chart. The Values chart scaffolds increasing learner ownership of each Value.
I show this Value with help from my teacher
I show this Value with a few reminders
I show this Value by myself
Excellence
Integrity
Creativity
Respect
Resilience
Caring
As students begin to gather evidence of displaying each Value independently and most-of-the-time, their growth will be acknowledged in class and through syndicate level assemblies. When all Values are displayed consistently and across time (an Overall teacher Judgement for each individual learner), the learner will be awarded their Values Badge - presented at an assembly.
We would expect that a few learners would be ready to both understand and receive their Values Badge towards the end of Year 2, while most others would be ready to understand and receive their Values Badge sometime during Year 3.
