YEAR 7 SHOWCASE : DRACULA SPECTACULA
For all of the Year 7 classes, our own tweaked version of Dracula Spectacula was an incredible experience.
Our weekly Drama sessions were lled with fun and creativity as we busily began to prepare for the show. Covid-19 lockdown affected our production somewhat, and we had to learn our lines and audition via Google Hangouts. This really gave us a sense of independence and we were all so excited to see which role we would be assigned.
Almost as soon as we obtained our roles, we started to create parts of the script remotely, and we also started to learn all our lines. Some of us had a double role! However, it was
when school restarted that Dracula Spectacula was really put into action. We began to put parts of the play together and everyone began gathering up bits and pieces for their costumes, as well as some handmade props.
Mrs Walker and our classroom teachers were an amazing help, practising with us in class time and correcting us to make the play the best it could be.
We all had to be creative and get into our character, thinking of what we might wear and act. A lot of students really went the extra mile.
Then came the exciting dress rehearsals. We went over the play in our amazing costumes, making it
perfect and really getting the feel of the stage.
Finally, it was opening night. Sadly because of Level 2 restrictions, we were not able to perform our play to our parents, but the other Year 7s thoroughly enjoyed watching each other's plays.
Overall, Dracula Spectacula was a huge success. It was an amazing experience, a chance to put everything we had previously learnt in Drama into a hugely rewarding show.
