FOOTBALL
Like all winter sport codes this year, the football season was hampered for the rst time, not by the weather, but by another external force beyond our control - Covid-19.
We did, however, manage to t in a complete season (although shortened) with super skills, tenacious team spirit, legendary leadership and a long lasting love for the game.
We had eleven teams take the eld, with a total of 140 players pulling on their striped shirt every Saturday morning. Well done to all the players who gave it their best and emptied the tank right throughout the season. It was amazing to see all of the players and teams maximising every minute of football they were given in this shortened season.
Throughout all levels of football the growth in skills and teamwork was clear and the future of football at Southwell looks bright. A special mention goes to 12th Grade Totora and Under 13 Girls' Kowhai. Both teams had very successful seasons, staying undefeated from start to nish.
Thank you to all of the people that made this season possible. Football at Southwell continues to thrive due to the commitment of all the coaches, managers and parents.
