INLINE HOCKEY
In 2021 we had a truncated year, with the competition only running in Terms 1 and 2. Despite this, Southwell School Inline Hockey, is continuing to grow in its popularity.
Four teams were registered in 2021. Southwell Sabres, Scorpions, Saints (rebranded in Term 2 as the Spartans) and Sonics. We welcomed many new and returning players to the teams
Each team played in graded divisions from the Southwell Sabres in the highly competitive first division to the Southwell Sonics in the Peewee Division.
Every player showed improvement in their skills, both in skating and hockey skills. While this year we may not have had the success of previous years, it was a highly enjoyable season with the teams showing determination and grit to play their best in every game.
Outside of the school league, many players were selected into regional and inter-regional teams, although some of these tournaments were cancelled.
Well done to Richard Wang, Alan Li, Jonathan Jiang and Ray Zhang for their club success. We are looking forward to more success next year and would welcome new players keen to have a go.
