BOYS' CHOIR TRIP
The Boys’ Choir trip of 2021 was a one to remember. As well as getting time off school, it also was a great opportunity for the Boys’ Choir to bond together more as a group.
Our journey started off at Southwell, where the boys were buzzing with excitement, grateful to be away from school and their parents for three days. We started the trip to Pukekohe in high spirits, knowing it was going to be a great outing, and the white- water rafting definitely didn’t disappoint. After that we had only an hour to get to the cathedral we were singing at! Luckily we got there in time, and the service was a success.
The next day was a day without any singing (unless you count the singing on the tram).
We went to MOTAT and had a great time there. As well as being educational, MOTAT was a huge highlight of the trip, with coding, robots and really hands-on activities.
The third and final day involved the most singing, seeing us perform two concerts back to back. The first one was at Pukekohe Christian School, a small school with a lot of heart, and the second was at a retirement home.
It was definitely an exhilarating trip and I’ll never forget my last Southwell choir trip.

VOICE FOR LIFE
The Voice for Life Training programme is a training scheme that helps people develop their knowledge of repertoire, musical understanding, and vocal skills. Anyone who is in the school choirs can be trained by Mrs McIntyre. There are five levels all categorized by colour: White (beginner), Light Blue, Dark Blue, Red, and Yellow.
Voice for Life really helps you improve your singing and music skills with both theory and practical work. I am super lucky to have been a part of this programme. We have been fortunate enough to have Mrs McIntyre and Chaplain training us. I know that I will take what I have learnt with me to future choirs.
