INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC
CHAMBER ENSEMBLE

Ensemble is a one-of-a-kind instrumental group that plays chamber music. This year it consists of Gabriella Schuitemaker, our first violinist, Frances Gregory, our second violinist, Ryan Koo, our cellist and Shanaz Chen, our pianist.
This year, our group was lucky enough to be able to participate in the ensemble competition, which was held at the Gallagher Academy of Performing Arts in the University of Waikato. Luckily, because the competition was held at the beginning of the Term 2 holiday, we had some extra rehearsals in the week before that. We played the Trio-Sonata in D minor by Jean Marie Leclair. The day was amazing and it gave the unique experience of performing for a musical competition.
Once we came back to school after the holidays, we performed the Trio-Sonata in front of the entire school at Assembly. We would like to thank Mrs Trenwith for guiding us in our practices together every Friday lunchtime.
As a group, we have all become really close and have plenty of inside jokes and nicknames for each other now. We wish the best for Southwell's future ensemble groups.. Trust us, you will have a fantastic time.
