                  ENVIRO GROUP
What a year we have had...
Even with all the ducking and diving in and out of lockdowns this year the Southwell Enviro Group still found time to make our school environment a better place for all.
The committed monitors maintained a schedule for our school recycling and earned free trees for the Southwell Bush for their efforts.
On Arbour Day members of our Enviro Group, Mrs Speedy and Nursee, joined hundreds of other keen Hamilton students in their raincoats to plant trees in our beautiful city.
A mammoth effort by all.
Along with all the digging and planting this year, Southwell has introduced the collection of excess food from the school kitchen for families in need in the local community.
Pigs at the local pig farm are also enjoying the food scraps provided to them on a regular basis.
Animals that are not so keen on the efforts of the Enviro Group however, are the pests in the bush, where there is an ongoing tracking and trapping programme. We are playing our part in helping reach the nationwide goal of Predator Free 2050.
So all in all, we have had a successful year and look forward to building on our efforts in the future.
