Page 101 - Southwell School Year Book 2022

With another year affected initially with Covid, it was great to get back onto the rink for the Hamilton School League competition in Term 2.
Southwell School Inline Hockey is maintaining its popularity, with four teams registered to play - Southwell Sabres, Scorpions, Saints and Sonics. We welcomed many new and returning players to the teams.
Each team played in graded divisions from the Southwell Sabres in the highly competitive first division to the Southwell Sonics in the Peewee Division.
With crashes, collisions and students kitted up with helmets, pads and sticks it may look like gladiatorial combat, but the poise, skill and speed shown by the students as they skate around is a wonder to behold.
Every player showed improvement with their skills, both in skating and hockey skills, showing determination and grit to do their best.
Outside of the School League, many players were selected into regional and inter-regional teams. Well done to Ray Zhang, Alan Li, Travis Cassells, Jay Jay Xu and Theo Chen for their club success.
We are looking forward to more success in 2023 and would welcome new players keen to have a go.
