Southwell School Yearbook 2022
It has been a fantastic year for Southwell Water Polo. In the first term, despite ongoing disruptions due to Covid, Southwell had two Water Polo teams in the intermediate league: a Year 8 team in the A League (including Year 7s Henry and Xander) and a combined Year 6/7 team in the B League.
The Year 8 team started as a group of individuals, but by the end of the term we really came together as a team. This
resulted in our first ever Southwell team making the finals to play off for first and second. A tough game against Berkley ended in an historic 7-5 win for Southwell, coming top of the A League. The Year 6/7 team made fantastic progress and came fifth in their league.
In Term 4, due to a very busy term, we were only able to have one team. Due to other events we often had many of our players absent. However, we fought hard
and still managed to make the playoffs for third and fourth in the A league, resulting in a fourth placing.
I am very proud to be part of the amazing Southwell Water Polo community and thankful for the support of the team managers Mrs Hickey and Jo Maber, and to coach Yolanda Rushbrooke.
