                CYCLING
It has been another year of ups and downs for our Southwell cyclists in 2022.
Weekly we went to the Hillcrest Velodrome to practise - Year 7 and 8s on Tuesdays and Year 5 and 6s on Thursdays. From these sessions we practised endurance, road rules, group riding etiquette, technique and much more.
Riders also tested their mettle on the roads of Horsham Downs during Hamilton City Cycling Club’s Thursday night racing series. Racing was a great test of fitness and great learning for our riders, including learning directions.
Monty Rowe, Reeve Witcher and Paddy Lloyd competed in the Yunca Junior Tour of
Southland, with Reeve, in particular, having some outstanding results. A great effort from those boys considering the three days and overall tour would have no doubt left them wheelie tired.
Thank you to all the parental help and support, especially to Jane Ganley and Warren Farrar.
To all those cyclists who finished up with us this year, congratulations on your re-tire- ment. May th
you feel be i
e only inflation n that of your
tyres.
