PRIZE GIVING
HEADMASTER'S ADDRESS
Headmaster - Jason Speedy
It is great to be here as we celebrate 2022 at Southwell. It’s been an extraordinary year. I am proud of the way you have managed yourself individually and collectively.
Some really positive learning outcomes from your year are:
• Your ability to be adaptable.
• Giving 100% effort and acting with
enthusiasm.
• Your resilience and positive role
modeling is appreciated.
• Showing goodwill and care by helping
others who may have been challenged or struggled at times.
Thank you to our key groups behind the scenes, like our Fellows, Trust Board, Foundation, Southwell Alumni and parents, for their considered navigation, judgements and support.
In June our stunning new stained glass Foundation Chapel window was unveiled by the Ormsby family at a special service in All Hallows. The design was inspired by our Chaplain Rev’d Canon Neale Troon and Art Teacher Brya Wing. Thank you to Suzanne Hanley and her team from Glassworks in Auckland for their exquisite workmanship
and attention to detail. A special thanks
to our wonderful donors for making this extraordinary project possible - we are truly grateful for their support.
Mr Gary Mollard, our Trust Board Chairperson, thank you for your positive thinking, calm considered leadership approach and support.
Thank you to the Senior Leadership Team - Mr Mills, Mrs Bindon, Mr Walch, Mrs Walters and Mrs Reddish. I appreciate your skills and passion for Southwell.
Mrs Speedy, thank you for being you and your commitment to Southwell and what we do here.
Thank you Chaplain for your constant presence and guidance across our whole school.
Thank you to our staff for your spirit and positive approach through 2022. Your adaptability as individuals and collectively is hugely appreciated. You are talented and committed.
Thank you to our support and administration staff for your constant work ethic across your specialised areas.
Thank you to our parents. Your support is often the glue that makes the special difference.
Boarders, boarding staff and boarding families, thank you for 2022. You are individually great children and adults, and collectively an awesome group of people.
Thank you Year 8s for leading in all ways and striving to be your best selves. Our younger students have loved their interaction with you. All the best in 2023 and
beyond.
Founder’s Day, our 111th birthday, was a great day where we celebrated the Southwell spirit on the Oval. Having fun, sharing relationship and activities across the age groups and celebrating our history and who we are today makes this day one of the favourites on the Southwell calendar.
