String Orchestra
The String Orchestra is a group for students who learn stringed instruments, such as violin and cello. It is a great way to start learning the important skills of playing in an orchestra.
This orchestra is a lot of fun and you can hear the beautiful sound of the stringed instruments without being drowned out by the brass instruments!
This ensemble is comprised of mainly beginner students, but we were very proud to have been awarded a Gold Award at the Te Awamutu Band & Orchestra Festival.
The String Orchestra has learnt a lot this year, all due to the hard-working, enthusiastic and amazing Mrs McIntyre and Mrs Trenwith. Their constant support has been hugely appreciated!

Wind Band
The Wind Band is the only reason I can think of to get a group of school children to willingly get up early every Thursday morning and look forward to it.
We are a group with varying abilities in music, but Mrs Trenwith, and our former conductors, have brought us together with the pieces they give us to play. These include Riptide, Beauty and the Beast and many more amazing pieces.
What makes being a part of Wind Band special
is the support we get from each other, whether it is teaching your fellow band member a new note, sharing music or even just calming someone down before a performance.
The highlight this year was performing at the Te Awamutu Band & Orchestra Festival and receiving a Silver Medal for the pieces we played. We have also performed at Grandparents’ Day and as part of the Senior Citizens’ Concert. It has been an incredible experience as you gain so much con dence from performing and it is rewarding to see the audience enjoying what we have showcased.
