 TOLD BOYS’ & GIRLS’ ASSOCIATION REPORT
he Old Boys’ and Girls’ Association has had a these past students to not only reconnect with the School, very quiet start to the year, just managing to fit in but also to meet up with friends before they head off our Annual General Meeting before the country further afield. An Old Boys and Girls Drinks Evening will
shutdown. Your committee for the next year is Brett Maber, John Libby, Blair Edwards, Tony Knowling, John Heathcote, Kirsty Petch, Andy Bryant, Headmaster Jason Speedy and myself. We always welcome new people to the committee, please contact the School if you would like to join us.
The second half of the year will see us orgainising social catchups and sport events. Invitations have been sent out inviting the Year 13s (2015 Year 8s) back to Southwell before they leave high school – a fabulous afternoon for

And of course we have our annual Cricket Day, on Sunday 1 November, a well-attended fun day with Old Boys and Girls playing against staff, parents and current students to win the Major Gay Trophy, named in honour of Major David Gay MC a past teacher and Fellow of Southwell. Major Gay is remembered fondly by alumni especially for his skills as a cricket coach. The Major played first class cricket in England and had a qualification to teach cricket form the Marylene Cricket Club resulting in Southwell students having fabulous tuition and encouragement.
Updating our database is a continual work in progress and is something we are currently focusing on.
