SOUTHWELL SCHOOL SNIPPETS
SUCCESS FOR SOUTHWELL SCHOLARS
The Southwell School team won the right to represent the Waikato region at the Kids’ Lit Quiz National Final, which was held at the National Library in Wellington. History was made at the event, with Southwell’s team being involved in first three- way tie for first place in the competition’s 29-year history.
In order to work out the placings from first to third, the competition went to sudden death. In the end, the Southwell team placed third in New Zealand. We extend our warmest congratulations to Conor McCormack, Adam Chapman, Michael Crowther, and Evie Sharman for this fabulous achievement. Many thanks to the amazing Julie Higgins for coaching, inspiring and managing our lit quiz teams.
WAIKATO CHESS CHAMPIONS
Our Intermediate team had a fantastic Waikato tournament, coming first and progressing to represent Waikato at the NZ Chess Federation Championships. Congratulations to the following: Daniel Shen, Kaeden Govender, Leon Lee, Stanley Lin and to their coaches Mark Webb and Aparna Manda.

Congratulations to our Southwell Girls Football XI who finished the 2020 season unbeaten. Well done to you all and to your coach Mr Cameron.
