Punahou School, established in 1841, is a private, co- educational institution located in Honolulu, Hawaii. It caters to over 3,700 students spanning from kindergarten to
12th grade. The school’s primary mission revolves around shaping students into well-rounded, knowledgeable, and compassionate individuals, equipping them with the skills needed for success in higher education and for making meaningful contributions to the world.
The physical environment of Punahou School is truly remarkable. The meticulously landscaped grounds and the state-of-the-art facilities for both sports and education are
absence of a school uniform adds an interesting facet to the school’s culture.
I enjoyed the opportunity to observe a variety of middle school classes and to witness the contrast in curriculum and instructional methods in comparison to Southwell School. The staff at Punahou extended a warm welcome and
were very willing to collaborate and share their teaching strategies and planning with me.
While I discovered new ideas and resources that I
can integrate into my teaching, I left with a sense of appreciation for the learning opportunities available to Southwell students and the distinctive culture of our school.
