GIRLS’ CHOIR OF ALL HALLOWS CHAPEL
The Girls' Choir is one of Southwell's many shining achievements. I was privileged to be the Head Chorister this year and have enjoyed working alongside all of the talented choristers. As part of serving the school and community the choir sings at chapel services, at the Baptism Service and, on occasion, at St Peter’s Cathedral.
This year we went to Sydney on a combined choir trip with the Boys' Choir. We were fortunate to be given this opportunity to participate in an overseas trip, which was the first in Southwell’s history. None of this would have been possible without our accomplished Choir Director, Mrs McIntyre and Chaplain Neale Troon.
This year we competed in the Kids Sing. We sang Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day, the test piece O Wind, and Te Iwi E. We were awarded a gold medal and we also won best New Zealand piece and best overall choir. Special thanks to our accompanist, Dr Greg Neil.
I am sad that this is my last year in the choir. I have made many friend and have learnt many valuable lessons about working in a team, serving the community and being responsible.
Thank you to all the parents who helped
us and... we love you Mrs McIntyre!

 VOICE FOR LIFE
The Voice For Life training scheme was developed by the Royal School of Church Music to help choristers develop their vocals skills, musical understanding and knowledge of the repertoire.
There are five levels of training categorised by colour: white (prep), light blue, dark blue, red and yellow. Each involves taking a test and completing a workshop.
At Southwell School you can start them when you are in the choir. The light blue and dark blue ribbons conclude with a test by Chaplain, and the red ribbon is topped off by leading a full Chapel service.
Southwell School is fortunate to have Mrs McIntyre and Chaplain to undertake training. I have learnt a great deal through completing ribbon training and I will take whatever I have learnt with me as I move on to St Peter's Cathedral Choir in 2020.
