 LIBRARY
2019 has been another year of change in the Library.
Whilst we finished sorting out our plans for the shelving, the signage and the furniture, we also started to really think about how we could align ourselves more closely to what goes on in the classrooms.
This is most definitely a work in progress, but progress there is, as we attempt to collaborate and communicate more closely with classroom teachers.
Highlights of the year have included:
• There were record numbers wanting to be librarians, so we experimented with some new roles and responsibilities.
• For the first time, we were able to appoint a Head Librarian - and in the end we got not one, but two. Kate Digby and Amelia Donovan have been a fabulous asset to the Library.

•The Scholastic Book Fair on Grandparents' Day, which resulted in many rewards for our Library - some of which we donated to the Migrant Centre on Boundary Road.
  • The instigation of Year 5/6 Librarians, who worked at Morning Tea, in order to earn a Service Point towards their Achievement Badge.
 • Book Week is always a highlight, featuring visiting authors, Gareth Ward, Chris Lam Sam and Angela Keoghan, the usual Book Quizzes (taken out by Salisbury), a Mad Menagerie, various competitions and, of course, Book Character Day. We also welcomed past pupils, and sporting inspirations, Sam Voss, Quinn Tupaea and Tim Seifert to the Year 5-6 Book Quiz to hang out with the students.
 • Mrs Huggins experimenting with hour- long sessions with 8CH and 7GM to see if we can add value to what is going on in classrooms. (I think we can!)
• The installation of Non-Fiction boxes to make it easier to browse this section.
• The blue wedges, which had been bought with the original shelving, but which didn't work as we had planned, were taken back by Hydestor and redeveloped - with great success.
• The amazing parent helpers, without whom we couldn't operate as we do.
• The weekly visit from Little Sparrows, our neighbouring kindy!
LIBRARIANS
• The publication of the stunning Cook Book, proceeds from which are going to be used to improve our library space!
