SOFTBALL
It has been a fantastic year of growth for the Southwell Saints softball team in 2019, which saw many new players join the team, after we lost a number of players from the previous year.
Our first term was spent learning the game and new skills, or for the more experienced players, building on previously acquired skills. We struggled as a team to get through many of our first games, facing strong, experienced teams with excellent batting and fielding skills.
As Term 1 came to an end, the improvement in all the players, both individually and as a team, was fantastic, seeing us take a win in the last parts of the season.
The second half of the year saw the team go from strength to strength, with a number of new enthusiastic players, with some excellent skills, joining the team. This new infectious enthusiasm, coupled with consolidated experience, saw some fantastic results in Term 4.
The Saints have gelled well as a team and together with strong batting, and great fielding we have managed a number of convincing wins which is reflective of the time and effort the players and coach have put in.
Overall, we have had a wonderful year of softball, with great attitudes resulting in a strong, supportive team culture, a desire to win while still having fun, all entwined with good sportsmanship on show. It’s been a pleasure to see!

CROSS SPORT
The Year 7 & 8 Cross Sport squad enjoyed continuous physical activity, action, fun and challenge in every Tuesday and Thursday sport time.
General fitness, small and large ball skills and team dynamics gradually improved through each term.
Every session on our beloved Jack’s Paddock included learning to warm up, stretch and warm down.
Activities and sports covered included football, team relays, American football, dodgeball, large ball skill development with kicking and passing drills and games.
