BASKETBALL
This year we have seen Basketball at Southwell go from strength to strength. We have been able to develop the skills of budding basketballers through our competitive teams and internal POD system. The quality of our players’ skillset has shown growth across the year levels.
In Term 4, all three Year 7 & 8 teams dominated their competition sections with some great basketball being played. We have had wonderful support from internal and external coaches and managers as well as a fabulous parent support network who would often step up to score games and run the bench.
Our Year 5 and 6 team came to our Friday evening games ready for action.
The focus in our trainings has been:
• Rebounds: getting in under the goal and
grabbing the loose ball.
• Teamwork: understanding that we all

have a role to play on the court and that working together we can achieve greater results.
• Skill: using the techniques we have learned in our training session and applying them during the game.
Our season has been very successful with players improving their understanding of attack and defensive play.
