   YEAR 7 SYNDICATE
    Year 7 in a Nutshell
It’s the rst day of school and everyone’s here,
Meeting new classmates and teachers everywhere.
I’ve made some new friends and had lots of fun.
The school bell rings, the rst day’s nished and off to home I run.
The school bus sets off and we are off to camp,
Pulling on our wetsuits and then making them damp.
Floating down the river and diving through the falls.
Camp is over and I had such a ball!
Now it’s Swimming Sports which causes some people to be delighted,
House pride was on the line which makes everyone united.
All the boys were posing, showing off their brawn,
Every student was tired out, letting out a yawn.
Unfortunately, Coronavirus spread and we were in isolation.
Lockdown was long but I got through, and so did our nation.
Term 2 started, but just a little late -
Now it's back to studying by books, not computers, time to educate!
Dracula Spectacula practices had started. There were vampire brides which the good guys outsmarted.
Then the great villain himself, Dracula, ectoplasmic dynamite!
We put on a fantastic show and nobody got stage fright!
Delayed, but still happening, Grandparents' Day was amazing,
All four bands and orchestras performed with standards raising.
Tours of the school were given and a chapel service for praising,
Hopefully, all the grandparents didn’t nd their visit eye-glazing.
Then it was Cross Country already - Ready, steady...
Run! One A lap and two C laps, I want to nish this before I drop dead and faint!
I huff, puff and wheeze like I have asthma, this is my complaint.
Last day of term and it’s Book Character Day,
A whole school parade on the Great Hall stage.
Some costumes were out there, being really brave,
We also went to the Oval for a Mexican wave.
Three weeks y by and Term 3 has started, It’s Opera again but this time two months delayed.
Each cast member was practising every day.
The show this year was called Hairspray.
Another term had just gone by,
But there is still one more to end on a high.
A spontaneous rendition of There Once Was a Boy Named Harry

The year’s nearly over but the fun doesn’t stop.
Opera is on its way, hope it doesn’t op!
The rst week of school it was chaos all around,
The opera cast were feeling worked to the ground.
Everyone dancing and singing in 1962.
It was so busy, some people forgot their cue!
Then the big day came round and everyone had fun.
Hair piled up half a metre high, the stench of hairspray pungent enough to stun! Grooving and acting until 11pm
The performances were fabulous, some would say a gem!
Now it’s Southwell’s birthday, a hundred and nine years,
We did some house line-dancing, and let out big cheers!
There was a whole school conga and some Southwell cookies too,
But the best part was Chaplain rapping, it was such a surprise, we didn’t have a clue!
Athletics Day was scorching hot and the sun was shining right on us.
There were people in nals making such a fuss.
Then there was Tug-o-War with Lincoln getting the winning score.
The day was fun but tired me out to the very core!
Now its French Dining Day, with Madame Shirley.
We moved the lesson to 11 so we wouldn’t eat too early.
We tried some snails, known as escargot in France,
Lots of people liked it, though they say they look unappetizing at a glance!
Sadly to say, it’s the end of the year
Year 7 has been a blast - for some their rst time here.
But as we advance into Year 8, we have a thank you to share -
All the teachers, you have lled our minds with so much knowledge, there’s no room to spare.
2020 has own by and now it's all over, Carol Services have been and Prize Giving is past.
This year we have been blessed.
And now it's denitely time to rest!
