  YEAR 6 SYNDICATE
    TERM 1
The start of a new year - 2020 and Year 6. I was excited to be in 6SG and meeting new friends. I enjoy coming back to school to see my friends and make new friendships.
We had new teachers too with Mrs Nicholson joining the syndicate.
Term 1 highlights for me were Swimming Sports and Camp. Swimming Sports is a great way to support your house (especially Lincoln!) and it’s fun swimming, even if you don’t win.
This year the Year 6 camp went to Lake Taupo. We had a great time kayaking, raft-building, rock climbing and zooming down the water slide - to name but a few activities. It was a lot of fun.
But In Week 8 things changed at school dramatically! We were all sent home to isolate because of Covid-19 and we ended the term working online.

 TERM 2
This is the term I enjoyed the most, because it was when we had bubble groups, online schooling and Cross Country.
Online learning was fun because you wouldn't get distracted and we got to spend more time close to our families. When the country moved to Alert Level 3 we had bubble groups at school for children of essential workers. I enjoyed these bubble groups as I got to see my friends again.
At Alert Level 2 we were all allowed back at school. The highlight for me was Cross Country because every one of my friends put in 110%. It was also pretty cool that I won!
This term we were also able to explore food, which was denitely a highlight. Food Tech was so fun because we got to bake and cook delicious food and best of all, we got to eat our culinary delights.

          TERM 4
Term 4, the last term of 2020. And it was the start of the Opera performances, which had been moved to later in the year. I was lucky enough to be in the show. We were busy from the start of Week 1 and through to Week 2 performing some amazing shows of Hairspray.
Term 4 can be considered the drama term for Southwell because right after Opera the school got excited with the school's 109th birthday (we are pretty old at Southwell School.)
Each year, a highlight for Year 6s is the Pantomime. This was my favourite part of the year as we performed Jack And The Beanstalk. I acted as Jack's mother, Gertie.
Along with Athletics, House Sports and itinerant concerts there were plenty of opportunities for us to give our best.
And that is not to mention our end of year assessments.
Term 4 was a fully packed term and by far the best.

  TERM 3
This was an exciting term for me. We had winter sport trials earlier and I was lucky enough to make the top football team.
The topic for this term was Ancient Civilisations which I found really interesting.
Then came Speeches, which was great fun because this was the rst year where we could choose whatever topic we wanted. I did pretty good and got into the Syndicate Finals. One person from our class got into
the Year 5/6 Finals.
Some students were challenged with
ICAS tests, myself included.
Another highlight was Food Tech. We looked at the staple foods from different cultures and created recipes from rice, wheat, corn and potatoes.
It was a shame when we went back to Level 2 towards the end of the term but we were able to carry on at school with our safe hygiene practices.
In the holidays, our two intermediate and primary chess teams made it to the national nals as well.
