ENVIRO GROUP
What a year it has been, but Covid-19 did not stop the Southwell School Environmental Group from achieving great things.
A committed group of students worked with Mrs Speedy and Mrs Martin to track and trap the pests in the Southwell bush. This was made possible by the donation from the Old Boys’ and Girls' Association for the traps.
The Southwell bush is a unique and special part of the school environment and our group will continue to work hard to ensure it is around for many years to come.
Southwell School is dedicated to reducing, reusing and recycling, where possible, and this will be an ongoing goal.
With the help of the Compost Captains, food scraps were delivered to, and managed by, our Worm Farmers.
The Paper Monitors and Power Rangers from across the school had an important part to play in the process too.
Few people would be aware that we earn free trees for the bush as a result of our paper recycling efforts, thanks to the Paper 4 Trees organisation.
2021 will see us build on the good work we have been doing and we hope that more and more students will see how important it is to become part of the ‘sustainability solution.'
