NEW THINGS WE HAVE TRIED IN YEAR 5
It has been a great journey through the past terms. There have been lots of new subjects to look forward to that some schools don't have. We've had many privileges throughout the year with help from the teachers. We do more subjects than we did last year in Year 4, such as: Technology, Art, Choir, learning the recorder as a class and so much more!
This year has been one of the most interesting years of Southwell that we have experienced. As we are a humble but sporty school, it makes us special in our own way - and we get other opportunities with bands and productions.
At Southwell we care for each other and make others feel welcome. We have had an amazing year and would love to find out more. We are lucky to be here and really appreciate it. So we say thank you to our parents and teachers that have made an awesome effort to make this school healthy and clean.

CROSS COUNTRY
This year we did Cross Country. It was raining and incredibly muddy, so muddy that everyone
that ran had dirty pants and shirts afterwards, despite the fact that they tried not to
get wet and filthy.
Even though it was slightly raining, our Cross Country spirits did not dim down or give up. We continued to
run ahead. We didn't care that it was raining. Nearly everyone wanted to come the top five. All of the year groups tried their very best.
You can imagine how awesome it feels to be finished after one of the longest runs and all that exercise. But everyone did an excellent job.
Thank you teachers for showing us where we had to go and thank you parents for coming and encouraging us. We appreciate all the help you've given us. We can't wait until next year for Cross Country!

FOOD TECH
Last year we did not do Food Tech. We are really lucky to make food at Southwell. We even get to eat what we make.
We only get instructions and then we start to cook. It gives us an opportunity to learn how to cook. We cooked a few different foods. Our personal favorite were nachos and pikelets.
Cooking is not just something we need to know and learn how to do when we grow up, but it shows us how to work together in groups and not to miss out on how fun it is.
Personally we love Food Tech because it opens a path to connect to our mind. It will be a memory for all of us that we will never forget as we made cookbooks that we will probably keep forever.
Food Tech is a great learning experience for children. It helps them to be creative and to learn how to show integrity. This is a good subject for our future and we would not be able to do it if it was not for our teachers.
