I recently read this Whakatauki (proverb) and was immediately taken by its wisdom and the manner in which it alludes to the greenness of our native bush. This in turn reminded me of our forests of Aotearoa, our Southwell bush and our mighty green Lincoln team. Being in Lincoln House for your entire Southwell life means we are always together and strong as a result.
Once again our Lincoln students have proven that by uniting ourselves, there is no limit to what we can achieve as a people and also as individuals. Your performance as a house was inspirational. From the swimming pool, Athletics and Cross Country to house relays, Tug-o-War, house singing and line-dancing we have enjoyed success. No matter how small or big you felt your success was, it was counted and treasured by your fellow Lincolnites. Remember these achievements so you can rekindle these wonderful memories of being in Lincoln.
For some of our Lincoln students these activities are a challenge, their Everest, and require them to step outside their comfort zone. I have witnessed first hand the courage, commitment and resilience you have shown for Lincoln and by finding your own inner strength you have risen to the challenge. By doing so you were able to work through the different emotions (excitement, nervousness, fear, acceptance and finally that magical feeling of accomplishment) and realise the experience is the reward.
Noster nostril — our hearts beat as one.
Thank you, all, my lean green passionate Lincoln machines! Remember - it is a beautiful thing when Lincoln and passion come together!
Nga mihi,
Phillippa Milroy Passionate Lincoln House Leader
