YEAR 3-4 SYNDICATE
2021 has been another year of upheaval. I have been so proud of how our children and teachers have used all our Southwell values to navigate through lockdown and remote learning with such a positive attitude. We were so grateful to be able to return to school in Term 4 and spend the last few weeks with our classes and end the year on such a positive note. Watching the joy the children got from seeing each other after such a long time was truly beautiful.
I would like to acknowledge the hard work, creativity and enthusiasm of our teaching team through this period and also the rest of the year at school. We farewell Matua and Mrs Stewart who are off to further their careers. We wish them all the best
It is always rewarding to see how the children develop their personalities during a year. There have been many highlights and memories that have helped shape them into well rounded Southwell students.
• Camp Week: facing challenges and being resilient;
• Year 4 show: building confidence and expressing themselves through drama;
• Technology challenges: team-building and collaboration;
• Sporting events: Cross Country, Swimming, Athletics - a time for our sporty children to shine;
• Book Character Day: fun and creativity;
• A bus trip to The Base: for a Matariki experience and visit to Jago Town. We were proud to take care such a well- mannered group of children out into the
community.
Overall it has been a wonderful year of fun, learning and building friendships across the Year 3
and 4 syndicate.

WHAT AM I?
I see little brown dents in the tough, yellow skin.
I see little dots like caves, like strongholds.
It tastes tarty and sour and makes my face scrunch up like I am afraid of it. It smells like freshly cut feijoa, from a tree and ready to be eaten.
It feels smooth and squishy like a baby's skin.
It sounds like a black hole, that makes no sound. But when you cut it, it sounds like you're being spat at!
