YEAR 6 SYNDICATE
TERM 1
My first term at Southwell was exciting, nerve-wracking and challenging in many different ways. Heaps of events happened, like Swimming Sports, Camp, summer sport and our inquiry, Kaitiaki.
Camp was definitely my highlight in Term 1 as all the activities were all entertaining! The adrenaline kicked in at Swimming Sports, and I even got to swim for Canterbury at the house relays!
Kaitiaki was interesting as some people investigated unique projects and initiatives to look after our environment.

TERM 2
Term 2 was an incredible and busy term, full of excitement and fun activities. At the start of the term we had winter sport trials and I was lucky enough to get into the first Year 5/6 Hockey team.
Plunging straight into speeches some people got the chance to show off their amazing speeches in the finals.
The school Gymnastics Competition was great fun and many people participated. The Great Hall was transformed into a Winter Wonderland for this year’s disco. Kiri Ormsby (6DB)
TERM 3
Who We Are, Cross Country, Opera.
Three tremendous focuses for Term 3. Who We Are was our half-year inquiry, discovering how we express ourselves while plummeting head-first into our social issues.
Cross-Country bestowed an opportunity to drive ourselves physically, while attempting to pulverise those personal bests!
Being a part of our Opera was a cultural enterprise we will never forget.
Several Year 6s did wonder whether The Little Mermaid could solve all of our geometry assignments!

TERM 4
Term 4 has been a busy, but exciting term filled with learning.
Founder's Day was a fun experience for everyone, celebrating Southwell's birthday. There was tense competition between the houses as we performed our line-dances, bringing the Southwell spirit onto the Oval. The Southwell conga, eating Southwell biscuits, and having live music from the rocks bands all contributed to the thrill of the day.
Athletics was another great day, with everyone giving their best effort, whether on the high jump, throwing the discus, or running the 50 metre sprints. It was good to see houses encouraging and supporting each other.
And the Year 6 Pantomime would be hard to ignore, with all classes engaging and having a great learning experience as we learnt the dances and spent time on our individual class scenes.
